Farming is a key method of producing food, medicine, and other products and materials for your tribe in Soulmask. Remember: a tribe runs on its stomach!
Overview[]
Farming crops and keeping livestock requires several types of structures to build, maintain, and staff with tribesmen to keep running.
The primary structures and items involved in crop farming include:
- Farmland: A large plot of arable land that can be earmarked for a specific crop. When kept stocked with fertilizer and water and assigned a caretaker via a nearby Granary, a placed piece of farmland can grow anywhere between 9 to 25 plants, depending on the size of the grown plant (e.g. Papaya trees take up more room than Aloe bushes)
- Granary: The hub for crop farming, the Granary is where seeds, compost, and herbicides are stored. Tribesmen assigned to a Granary will automatically operate nearby farmland. Seeds will be taken from it to be planted, and harvested crops will be stored in it as long as there is room.
- Fertilizer Bucket: A workstation where various types of fertilizer and compost can be crafted
- Beehive: Some plants thrive better when pollinated by nearby bees.
- Seeds: Seeds can be crafted from crops by hand or at a Grinder, or looted from enemy farmland plots at Barbarian Barracks and Barbarian Fortresses.
For livestock and other animal-based harvesting, a tribe will need
- Breeding Farm: To maintain a meat-based food source, you will need to keep a steady supply of animals. Using Breeding Farms ensures you will not have to continually go beyond safe grounds to keep your tribe fed.
- Capybara Pen, Turkey Coop, Piranha Pool, and Barn: Safe places to keep and raise Capybaras, Turkeys, Piranhas, and mountable creatures like Alpacas and Llamas
- Monkey Storage Nest: Pet Monkeys will gather wild fruits and nuts at their nests, which can be collected and stored by tribesmen.
- Parrot Rack: Pet Scarlet Macaws act as an alarm system for intruders nearby, and can even learn a handful of phrases to repeat.

Farmland: Types of Crops[]
Growing crops in Farmland requires seeds, fertilizers, and sometimes bees for pollination.
| Crops | Seed | Grow Times | Fertilizer Required | Optimal temperatures | Honey-producing Beehive Needed | Seed Requirements |
| Potato | Potato | Fast | Compost | 15~25 | No | Can replant as is |
| Corn | Corn Seed | Fast | Bone Powder Fertilizer | 20~30 | No | Handcraft or Grinder |
| Cotton | Cotton Seed | Fast | Compost | 20~30 | No | Generates seeds on harvest |
| Pumpkin | Pumpkin Seed | Fast | Ash Fertilizer | 15~30 | No | Generates seeds on harvest |
| Peanut | Peanut Seed | Fast | Bone Powder Fertilizer | 15~30 | No | Handcraft or Grinder |
| Tomato | Tomato Seed | Fast | Bone Powder Fertilizer | 15~30 | No | Handcraft or Grinder |
| Chili | Chili Seed | Fast | Stone Powder Fertilizer | 15~30 | No | Handcraft or Grinder |
| Tobacco | Tobacco Seed | Medium | Ash Fertilizer | 10~30 | No | Generates seeds on harvest |
| Quinoa | Quinoa | Medium | Bone Powder Fertilizer | 15~25 | No | Can replant as is |
| Aloe | Aloe Seed | Medium | Compost | 15~25 | No | Generates seeds on harvest |
| Agave | Agave Seed | Slow | Compost | 15~25 | No | Generates seeds on harvest |
| Cocoa Tree | Cocoa Fruit | Very Slow | Ash Fertilizer | 15~25 | Yes | Tree will provide fruit as long as it is fertilized and watered |
| Cashew Tree | Cashew Seed | Slow | Bone Powder Fertilizer | 25~30 | Yes | Tree will provide fruit as long as it is fertilized and watered |
| Guava Tree | Guava Seed | Slow | Stone Powder Fertilizer | 15~30 | Yes | Tree will provide fruit as long as it is fertilized and watered |
| Papaya Tree | Papaya Seed | Medium | Stone Powder Fertilizer | 20~30 | Yes | Tree will provide fruit as long as it is fertilized and watered |
Compost and Fertilizers[]
Fertilizers are produced in the Fertilizer Bucket from feces and other components. Livestock (Capybara Pen, Turkey Coop, etc) and the Outhouse are the main sources of feces.
| Fertilizer Types | Fertilizer Value | Boost | Duration |
| 400 | N/A | N/A | |
| 400 | N/A | N/A | |
| 400 | N/A | N/A | |
| 400 | N/A | N/A | |
| 5000 | Growth Speed+10% | 4h |
Beekeeping[]
Beehives are critical for growing certain trees in your farms, and producing Honey and Bee Wax for cooking and crafting. Bees thrive on a diet of Bee-drawing Syrup made from Guava, Banana, Pineapple, and Papaya at the Brewing Stand.
| Beehive | Optimal temperature | Number of syrup consumed per bee growth |
| 10~35 | 2 |
Animal Domestication[]
Certain creatures may be captured, domesticated, and even bred. Tribesmen can automatically manage nearby pens and coops when assigned to a Breeding Farm.
Keeping domesticated creatures has a wide range of benefits:
- Capybaras and Turkeys will breed in captivity as long as they are provided adequate food and water.
- Capybara Pens, Turkey Coops, and Piranha Pools are a good source of Fresh Meat and Fish for cooking, provided a tribesman with a butcher's knife is assigned to them.
- Turkey Coops provide eggs and feathers in addition to meat.
- Monkeys will gather fruits and nuts from the local environment and deposit them in Monkey Storage Nests.
- Scarlet Macaws and Monkeys can ride on players' shoulders. When used this way Macaws can act as warning systems, and Monkeys can help loot items.
- Alpacas, Llamas, Ostriches, Jaguars, and Snow Leopards become mounts when equipped with saddles.
- All domesticated animals are a source of feces that can be collected for crafting fertilizers
